With the easing of some of the Covid19 restrictions, many of the counties race tracks are starting to announce their operating plans for the rest of 2020.
It appears that race meetings will be allowed subject to the requirements of social distancing, but it looks like these events will be run behind closed doors.
Testing days, and more importantly for the club members, track days will start back up, again with due care taken to abide by the infamous social distancing. On reading the plans for most tracks the social distancing will involve signing on remotely, the pre track briefing will be via video and driver instruction will not be available. Passengers rides will only be possible for those from the same household. So, it does look like we will get some track time this year, but not as we are used to, however, we need to make the adjustment now as this virus is not going away and this is how track days will be run for the foreseeable future.
So, where does this leave MX5OC events, a track day at Croft Autodrome is still very much happening at this time, the date is 28th August. This event is run in conjunction with the Lotus 7 Drivers Club, our members will get an exclusive twenty minutes in every hour we have a maximum of twenty – five cars for the day. Tickets will be available online from the Club shop from 1st June at £125.00 per car, £25.00 for an extra driver and £10.00 for a passenger on a first come first-served basis.
We also have two Mazda on Track track day available, Oulton Park 13th November and Brands Hatch 4th December, entry for each event is £125.00 per car, those wanting to do these events will need to email their details to me to get a discount code for this price, these codes are valid for 90 days from the date of issue, if you do not book on Mazda on Tracks website within this period you will need to get a new code.
All of the above is, of course, subject to Covid19 not spoiling everything again, so for the latest information check the website and our Facebook page.
Hopefully I will be seeing some of you at least one of these events and we can look forward to 2021 when we can have a far better Motorsport programme.
