Members Code of Conduct
The MX-5 Owners Club is a not-for-profit organisation committed to providing a welcoming, enthusiastic, and inclusive community. Our objectives are:
- To be the heart of MX-5 ownership and enjoyment in the UK.
- To enhance the ownership experience for all members.
- To provide members with a wide range of benefits and services.
- To promote the Club as a social, friendly organisation offering value for money and encouraging new members to join.
Our Code of Conduct exists to ensure that all members, staff, partners, and officials enjoy a positive and respectful environment while participating in Club activities.
Your Rights as a Member
As a valued member of the MX-5 Owners Club, you have the right to:
- Be Treated with Respect: Enjoy a fair and equal experience within the Club, free from discrimination, harassment, or prejudice.
- A Welcoming Environment: Socialise and participate in Club activities in an atmosphere that prioritises enjoyment, safety and inclusivity.
- Privacy and Confidentiality: Have your personal information protected and only shared with your consent.
- Active Involvement: Be informed about and actively participate in Club events and opportunities.
- Be Heard: Share your thoughts, ideas, and feedback directly with the Club’s Committee or representatives.
Our Shared Responsibilities
To maintain the Club’s welcoming spirit, all members are encouraged to:
- Treat Others with Courtesy: Show respect and kindness to fellow members, guests, officials, staff, and venue personnel.
- Uphold the Club’s Reputation: Represent the Club positively through responsible behaviour at events and in the Club’s community.
- Drive Responsibly: Demonstrate safe and considerate driving during Club activities to reflect well on the Club and the MX-5.
- Foster a Supportive Community: Avoid physical or verbal harassment and engage in constructive, respectful communication.
- Communicate Thoughtfully Online: Use social media and forums, including non-Club platforms, to contribute positively, avoiding personal criticisms or inflammatory comments.
- Report Concerns: Raise any inappropriate behaviour or concerns with the Club Office team or Chairman to help maintain a safe and positive environment.
Accountability and Resolution
To help maintain a positive and welcoming community, these supportive steps will be taken where the Code of Conduct is not followed:
- Immediate Action: Members acting inappropriately at a Club event may be kindly asked to step aside from the activity to allow the situation to be resolved calmly.
- Fair Review: Reports of concerning behaviour will, if necessary, be carefully reviewed by the Committee, ensuring everyone involved is treated fairly and compassionately.
- Thoughtful Outcomes: Depending on the situation, outcomes may include a discussion, support to address any issues, or, in rare cases, changes to membership status to uphold the community’s well-being.
