Description
A very rare car, indeed.
For only 2 years, Mazda sold only 750 MK1 MX5s with a BBR tuning kit, this is one of the 130 remaining today.
Brings the 1.6L from 114 to 152hp, great fun to drive.
BBR added:
Garrett GT25 Turbo Charger
Uprated intercooler
Exhaust Modifications
Torsen Limited Slip Differential (Rare to find these LSDs as an extra on these BBR models, so it’s an even rarer car).
Other supporting bits and bobs.
The car drives incredibly, but I buy and sell cars as a job, so can’t keep it as it’s foolish to fall in love with a car if it’s a job – I’m gutted.
Good bits:
- 59,000 Miles
- Everything works absolutely flawlessly, clutch, gearbox, windows.. all of it.
- New Discs and Pads all round.
- New Spark plugs, Coil packs and Drop Links.
- Just serviced.
- Soft top in fabulous condition.
- Body work in very good condition but a few tiny bumps.
- Car has been extensively Undersealed.
- Never had a mechanical advisory… EVER.
- (Only ever had 6 advisories in 35 years, 4 of which were tyres, the other 2 I explain later).
- Lovely gold BBS Alloys.
- Garage Kept for the majority of her life.
Bits that are not quite as good:
- There are a few tiny micro dents here and there not noticeable until very close, but could very easily be sorted out!
Recently had an MOT which had 2 advisories. While underneath the cat is fabulous and rust free, there are only 2 spots of minor rust. One is the sill has a tiny amount, but this has started from the outside, not the underneath, as underneath was sealed. I am getting this cut out and welded and professionally resprayed to look and function like it was never there before sale.
The other advisory was that there is a tiny hole in the exhaust, about the size of a pea. But, this is at the very end of the exhaust so would be very cheap to replace. The reason I am not is because the car has a classic Racing Beat exhaust on it, which is not something you can really buy anymore. The exhaust is the only modification to the car. It’s not loud at all, it just brings out a bit more turbo noise. So, I am leaving it as the new owner can decide if they want it or not – as i would be keeping the exhaust if it was mine!
Car’s service history was lost by the last owner when he moved house, he owned it for 10 years in his barn. But, at the end of the day, it’s very low milage and an old car – The engine is perfect, as anyone who views it would agree.
There are some stone chips to the car right now, but I am getting a professional shop to touch these up so should be 90% gone to the naked eye upon sale.
Lastly, I really want this car to go to someone who will look after it – it’s now a piece of history, and deserves use, by the right owner.
Really enjoying this on the weekend for now, but feel free to reach out if interested.
