SUMMARY:North West – Midweek Drive to Coniston
DESCRIPTION:This event has been organised by David and Sheila James which was originally planned for the previous day. Please note the change! \nThe drive runs from Carnforth Truckstop to the Ruskin Museum Car Park in Coniston. From there members can visit the museum to see the refurbished Bluebird that Sir Donald Campbell drove along the Lake. \nA walk down to the Lakeside will also provide an opportunity to take the 12.00 sailing on Coniston or to have lunch at the Bluebird Cafe there. \nParking at the Ruskin Carpark is £7.50 for the day which is similar to other parking cost in Coniston. Members will have to book tickets for the 12.00 sailing themselves which lasts an hour. Museum charges are £10.00 per person. \nThe Bluebird Cafe is at the lakeside and would make part of a 1.5 mile walk from the Ruskin Carpark to the lake\, along the shore and back to the carpark. \nWe leave Coniston at about 2.00pm to drive through Skelwith Bridge and Bowness then take the Lyth Valley road and some back lanes to finish for a coffee at Crooklands Hotel. \nTulip maps are available below and also our Facebook Page in the file section. \nPlease indicate on our Facebook page\, MX-5 Owners Club North West\, or reply on our email address\, northwest@mx5oc.co.uk\, if attending this event. \nConiston Run \n

It will start from Bishops Waltham car park SO32 1AR and we will drive down to Stokes Bay (Lifeboat Lane) to have our food. Meeting time is 18:15 at Bishops Waltham to leave promptly at 18:45. The drive takes about 45 minutes and I will be collecting our food order between 19:30 and 19:45 from the village chippie. The food will need to be pre-ordered so I would be grateful if you could let me know your orders by Friday 13th June.\nYou can pay with cash on the night when we meet at Bishops Waltham or by PayPal to ‘Nicholas Greest’\, remember to say it’s a friends/family transaction to avoid a charge. \nFood choices and prices:\nFish and chips £9.50\nJumbo sausage and chips. £6.00\nBeef pie and chips. £6.60\nChicken fillet bites and chips. £6.80\nVeggie burger and chips. £7.50 comes with salad and choice of mayo or relish\nCurry Sauce. £2.10\nMushy peas. £1.30 \nRemember to bring Salt\, Vinegar and sauces if required.\nFingers crossed for the weather. \nVERY IMPORTANT; Please note that we are having to put a limit of 40 food orders to ensure the chippy will be able to complete our order. DESCRIPTION:Updated 17th June 2025 \nWe are adding another meet and greet point at Scotch Corner on Saturday 21st June at 8.15am with a set off time to Penrith of 8.45am \nA lakes event which is a pick & mix starting from Penrith Premier Inn CA11 7FG \nTwo easy runs in the Lakes starting from Penrith Premier Inn. \n  \n  \nDo the Saturday or Sunday runs or make a week end of it\, do both event runs and stay over at the Premier Inn at Penrith (Please book your room early direct with the Premier Inn) \n  \nThe choice is yours. \nA short walk away from the Premier Inn are plenty of bars and places to eat. Sainsbury’s is next door for purchasing a packed lunch. \nSaturday 21st June Event Route. \nApproximately 97 miles \nMeet and Greet 9.30am outside the Premier Inn. New Squares\, 2 Common Gardens Square\, Penrith CA11 7FG. for a 10am start. Route maps will be available on the day. \nStop 1.         10 minute Comfort Break at The Oddfellows Arms\, Calbeck CA7 8EB \nStop 2.         30minute Tea/Coffee break at Lake District Castle Inn. Bassenthwaite. Keswick. CA12 4RG. \nStop 3.        45 minte Lunch break. Honister Slate Mine. Honister Pass. Keswick CA12 5XN. There is no parking charge for our group. We have to park in the overflow carpark. \nStop 4.       30 minute comfort break. Stock Lane Grasmere LA22 9SL (dependant on how busy the carpark is.) Otherwise short comfort break and move on.
